E-bikes NOT allowed on PRT West
The Peterson Ridge Trails in Sisters were originally constructed in 1989 as a mountain bike trail network consisting of a combination of single-track and old forest service roads.
In 2008, a major expansion of the network increased the amount of single track to over 20 miles and included signage and trail markers to aid riders in navigation. There are lots of connector trails to create loop options of various lengths.
The trails are fairly level and mostly free of technical obstacles (although some lines do have rocks and roots to negotiate).
The trail network is popular with Sisters’ residents and you can expect to encounter lots of walkers, runners, and dogs on the trails. There are also several Horse trails that interconnect into this system.
The Peterson Ridge Trails are maintained by Sisters Trails Alliance.
All clear, dry, and riding well.
Rode it Monday afternoon – riding great with only tiny patches of mud high up, and no snow until you get a ways up Peterson Ridge Tie
About a dozen or so short muddy sections but overall riding pretty well (big loop).
PRT West good up until the top of the Double Ditch climb, then got muddy and turned back.
PRT west was surprisingly very muddy today in light of recent reports. Gets worse higher. I should have turned back/East at Telegraph connector. By the time I made it to the picnic table at Top Rung I was walking because it was >50% mud and I was leaving deep ruts. Maybe so bad because it’s not freezing at night?
Hero Dirt! Absent any sub-freezing overnight lows, the few soft spots should be fine by the time you read this.
PRT West is soft down low if you don’t get out early. Upper section was really good this morning. It’s gotten pretty rutted in the lower section from people riding it too late in the day.
no mud or snow this afternoon. Get it while it’s good. Helped that it was 64 degrees today. Great all the way up the Peterson Ridge Tie trail as well.
Damp in the morning from freezing then thawing.
PRT West riding like a dream all the way to the top, as of Mar 31.
While the lower portion of PRT West was dry as a bone, the upper portions near the overlooks were quite wet and muddy on Saturday, 3/26.
