E-bikes allowed on Windy Pass
Windy Pass travels up and around the Timpanogas basin. Climbing clockwise (you can ride in either direction depending on the route you’ve planned) the trail consists of sustained climbs through old growth forests of fir and hemlock, with the occasional sweeping vista of Sawtooth and the surrounding mountains. Mosquitos can be vicious until the end of summer, so plan to wear repellent. Connect to the Sawtooth trail for a fast downhill descent to the Middle Fork junction.
This class 3 trail is open to dirtbikes and to E Bikes. It is important that dirtbikers are aware of the special nature of these remote trails. DO NOT leave ruts, and do not abuse the area. The local land manager has considering shutting the area down to motorized use if people cannot keep the area as pristine as they found it. If you cannot ride around a tight switchback with a pivot turn, get off your bike and man handle it around the corner.
There is one open scree field on this trail which is near impossible to ride up (even on dirtbike). Most people ride down it.
