Trail Description

This is primarily a winter riding area due to the sandy soils. Winter rain and snow doesn't hit this area as hard, and trails are often prime in the winter months.

E-bikes NOT allowed on Boyd Cave Trail

Boyd Cave is a short trail (less than a mile) which takes you to Coyote Loop Trail at the road crossing to Arnold Ice Cave trail. The trail starts on a gravel road that leads you to the entrance to Boyd Cave (100 yards away) which is a nice detour and one of many natural lava caves in the area East of Bend.

  1. Chris Bailey says:

There are a couple soft/mildly muddy spots, but it’s otherwise quite fine – mostly dried out after the recent rains.

  2. Barney Gill says:

Very muddy yesterday evening. Recommend avoiding this.

  3. Chris Bailey says:

It’s pretty darn soggy – lots of standing water and soft soil. I was on my gravel bike today when trying, and bailed, as I was just sinking in too much and it wasn’t going to be any good.

  4. Dustin Balderach says:

The short loop north of China Hat is riding great. A few muddy bits, but not rut prone. Go ride it.

  5. Scott Wolfe says:

90% clear and dry from gate to T into Arnold Ice Cave. Few muddy spots and patchy snow in the shade but should be completely dry and clear within a few days.

  6. Richard Fernald says:

    Cows are out
