E-bikes NOT allowed on PRT East
The Peterson Ridge Trails in Sisters were originally constructed in 1989 as a mountain bike trail network consisting of a combination of single-track and old forest service roads.
In 2008, a major expansion of the network increased the amount of single track to over 20 miles and included signage and trail markers to aid riders in navigation. There are lots of connector trails to create loop options of various lengths.
The trails are fairly level and mostly free of technical obstacles (although some lines do have rocks and roots to negotiate).
The trail network is popular with Sisters’ residents and you can expect to encounter lots of walkers, runners, and dogs on the trails. There are also several Horse trails that interconnect into this system.
The Peterson Ridge Trails are maintained by Sisters Trails Alliance.
All clear, dry, and riding well.
About a dozen or so short muddy sections but overall riding pretty well (big loop).
PRT good up until just past Hawk’s Flight, then started to get muddy & turned back.
PRT East was much better than West, but still had some muddy spots, even below Telegraph connector. Can’t report above that, but I suspect more muddy.
Hero Dirt! Absent any sub-freezing overnight lows, the few soft spots should be fine by the time you read this.
All trails below the Double Ditch Connector and Sisters Tie are riding well with no mud.
Damp in the morning from the freezing and thawing.
I noticed on the Trail Description that trail is closed. That was as of Aug 19. All the trails on the east side of 3 Creeks Rd. are open. That means all of Peterson Ridge Trails.
Thanks for the heads-up Gary. I cut the ‘closed’ verbiage from the trail descriptions for PRT today.
Rode up PRT East to the PR overlook and down the West. Riding very nicely.
A few very short areas with snow but otherwise the trail is as good as it gets. Firm, no dust.
Super dry from Turkey Hollow connector down but then some wet spots closer to the top — nothing major though and today’s wind/sun combo should help with the drying.
Entire PRT loop was in perfect shape on Sunday 2/28. No snow at all and just lightly tacky
