Trail Description

E-bikes NOT allowed on Flagline Tie

The Flagline Tie is a short connector trail which runs from the Ridge Loop and Swampy/Dutchman junction to the Flagline Trail proper.

An aerobic climb, or a ripping downhill depending which direction you’re going, this trail is lots of fun either way. Flagline Tie is often used as part of a larger high-country loop so check the map for some options.

This trail is maintained by Central Oregon Trail Alliance.

    1. jadamcrain says:

4-5 rideable snow patches as you descend to the junction with lower flagline, otherwise perfect.

    2. Clark Ritchie says:

A couple of snow patches still but all rideable.

    3. Jeff Moore says:

Two trees down near the swampy-Dutchman junction about 10” in size

    4. BendTrails says:

Large tree down across Flagline Tie 100’ from the Tie/Middle/Lower Flagline junction. Probably about 20” in diameter.

    5. Don Leet says:

Flagline Tie had over 40 trees down after the big wind. Now it’s clear

    6. Chris Bailey says:

All rideable, but there are a few snow patches. Most are tiny and a quick hop, but some you actually need to ride through (but rideable, no need to dismount, etc.).

    7. Eric Kutter says:

At least mostly rideable snow N bound. probably a dozen short patches of snow on the Northern third, with one section about 100′. Never deeper than about a foot so should disappear quickly.

      1. Natalie Herse says:

Patchy snow still there, mostly rideable, refreshingly cool on the legs ;)

    8. Aukai Lee says:

Tried to ride up to Lower Flagline for a loop. There are 6 small trees across the trail as well as mud and long snow patches that made most of the trail unrideable. The bottom section of Lower Flagline was clear of trees but also had mud and snow over the trail.

      1. Ryan Pedersen says:

Trees cleared. Thanks for the report

    9. Eric Kutter says:

Trees seem to have been cleared (thanks tree fairy). Mostly rideable snow N bound. Just a couple of 20′ sections that could be iffy. Probably 15 easily rideable patches under 5′ long.

    10. Chris Bailey says:

Generally rideable, but there are some fairly solid sections of snow, and a lot of downed trees (30?). Passable, but you won’t be ripping it :)

    11. Ryan Pedersen says:

Just one smallish tree down in that tight twisty section near the middle. 4″

      1. Ryan Pedersen says:

        Cleared

    12. Natalie Herse says:

Break out the fatbikes. 4-5″ rideable fluff. Woohoo!

    13. Jay Marsh says:

Clear of deadfall. OK, still a couple of snow patches toward Flagline, but rideable through the patches. Nice!

    14. Ryan Pedersen says:

Deadfall cleared this afternoon. All good

    15. Ryan Hibler says:

Lost phone on the flagline trail. Please message or reply if you find it. Thanks!

    16. Evan Smith says:

      All trees have been cleared!

    17. Kevin Slane says:

1 or 2 trees. all snow rideable, at least early when it was still frozen hard.

      1. Eric Kutter says:

Still all rideable around noon. Amazing how much of the 4+ feet has melted in 9 days. Should be basically clear by the weekend, other than the two trees.

    18. Eric Kutter says:

Ran it today. As David says, lots of snow. First 0.8 miles from Ridge loop are almost clear of snow but there are two large trees down. The final half mile to Flagline is about 2/3 snow, with short sections over 3′ deep.

    19. David Pilz says:

Can definitely confirm that most of the trail is covered in a few feet of snow. I hiked almost the whole way today.

    20. Dustin Balderach says:

all clear (and fun) but a little dusty

    21. Natalie Herse says:

      All clear! Thank you!
